S stuck on a class trip to London with him and his new soulmate and she can’t help wishing he was a little bit dead even if she’d never really do that   But when Kim meets Nicki a stranger on the plane who’s than willing to listen to Kim’s woes things start to. Instagram Twitter Facebook Pinterest This is literally a straight up retelling of Patricia Highsmith s STRANGERS ON A TRAIN only with teen girls instead of adult men and on a plane instead of a train I guess we could call this book STRANGERS ON A PLANE then I see what you did there author I see what you didThe heroine of STRANGERS ON A PLANE sorry I mean YOU OWE ME A MURDER is Kim Kim is actually of an antihero she s a compulsive liar and pretty unlikable She s on a trip to England that she didn t even want to be on in the first place she only signed up because her boyfriend Connor was going too But now Connor has broken up with her ditching her for a smaller petite model and Kim is incandescent with betrayal and rageAt the airport seething over the breakup and trying to hide her despair from her classmates she meets a British girl named Nicki Nicki is interesting and brave all the things that Kim would like to be and encourages her to steal a bottle of vodka from a store which they then drink together on the airplane While drunk Kim reveals how much she hates Connor and Nicki says she feels the same way about her mom Wouldn t it be hilarious she says if the two of them did each other a favor of killing off the person they each hate It would be the perfect alibi because a stranger has no motive to kill another stranger Kim agrees thinking it s all a joke until a tragedy happens at a train station and it looks like Nicki might actually be dead seriousEven though this is the plot of a Highsmith novel that s been recycled I was utterly engrossed in the story and had no idea how it would end It takes guts to make such an unlikable main character and talent to make this unlikable character sympathetic I did sympathize with Kim and I liked how her character developed over the course of the novel Nicki was also fascinating and terrifying She was utterly ruthless and without remorse and you as the reader were never uite sure how far she would go or if she even had any limits at all I finished this book in under 24 hours it was that goodI think if I have a ualm about this novel at all it s that the ending was too neat In the original story of STRANGERS ON A TRAIN there s a pretty dramatic showdown and a very close escape That didn t really happen in YOU OWE ME A MURDER but on the other hand it s a children s novel so maybe the author felt like she d dabbled in the dark side long enough Is that even possibleI ll have to check out from Eileen Cook Books about psychotic girls are an utter delight Thanks to the publisher for sending me a copy in exchange for an honest review 4 stars

Seventeen year old Kim gets than she bargained for when she is set up for murder Perfect for fans of One of Us is Lying E Lockhart and Gillian Flynn17 year old Kim never expected to plot a murder But that was before her boyfriend dumped her for another girl Now Kim’. I was super excited to get my approval for You Owe Me a MurderLet me start out by saying I love the title of this book It s catchy and pulls you in right away Kim travels to Europe for a study abroad trip and her ex boyfriend and his new girlfriend happen to be on the same trip Talk about awful But her luck seems to be arising when she meets a new girl Nicki on the plane and they instantly bond as friends Soon things start to heat up with gossip between Nicki and Kim Nicki suggests that they make a list of why Nicki should murder Kim s ex boyfriend and why Kim should murder Nicki s alcoholic mother Kim laughs off this list and falls asleep on the plane thinking that this is harmlessBut the next thing she knows Kim s ex boyfriend is killed from jumping or being pushed off a train What is going on Who did this and is Nicki somehow involvedThis was an entertaining wild ride that definitely leaves you on the edge of your seat Eileen does a nice job of adding plenty of suspense to the story but it was a tad predictable for me and knew where the story was going Kim is soon blackmailed by Nicki and this got a bit over the top for me with the back and forth chase The middle to end was lagging a tad for me as well but kept reading because I was hoping for that bang of a buck ending with whiplashBut unfortunately the ending was a big let down for me I felt Eileen took the easy way out with the ending and was hoping for a huge twist Overall this was entertaining but was just hoping for a little bit in this YA thrillerThank you to Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Children s Publishing Group for the arc via Netgalley in exchange for an honest reviewPublished to Goodreads 12019Publication date 3519

After reading two other thrillers by Eileen Cook I knew that I had to read You Owe Me a Murder Again just like with the other two books that I had read previously I found myself uite engrossed from the very startKim is a seventeen year old high school student who had signed up to go on the school trip to London back when she and her boyfriend were together Having just broken up with him though she’s not looking forward to a coup

My rating 355You Owe Me a Murder was a fun fast faced story about a girl who is essentially blackmailed to commit murder The book was easy to fly through and did read a bit on the younger side The biggest issue for me though was that the twists weren’t shocking enough being very predictable and the ending felt a bit flat Nonetheless it was a uick suspenseful read perfect for fallFind me on Booktube youtubeco

This one's for you And for you too A must must read You Owe Me A Murder seems like a typical ya thriller at first mc Kim is in the airport waiting to go to London on a trip arranged for high schoolers with her ex Connor and his new girlfriend She's miserable and dreading the trip and than a little angry at Connor Yes this sounds
